James E. Gavin joined the law firm of Masano ♦ Bradley, LLP in 1998. As one of the firm’s trial lawyers, Mr. Gavin concentrates in all areas of the firm’s civil trial practice.
Prior to joining Masano ♦ Bradley, Mr. Gavin spent in excess of eight years as an Assistant District Attorney in the office of the District Attorney of Berks County. At the time of his departure from the Berks County District Attorneys Office, Mr. Gavin held the position of the Chief of the Trial Unit, supervising the daily activities of the Trial Unit. Additionally, Mr. Gavin was responsible for the trial of major cases.
Mr. Gavin was born and reared in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of St. Joseph’s University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science in 1985. He subsequently earned a Juris Doctor Degree from the Temple University School of Law in 1988. In 1998 he earned a Masters of Law Degree in Trial Advocacy from the Temple University School of Law. Mr. Gavin served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Temple University School of Law and coach of the law school’s National Trial Team from 1999 through 2004.
As a practicing attorney, with almost thirty (30) years of experience, Mr. Gavin has a wide range of civil litigation experience including, but not limited to, education, banking, commercial, employment, labor, and construction. He has arbitrated and tried cases in the state and federal courts throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. Gavin also has extensive appellate experience in both state and federal appellate courts. Additionally, Mr. Gavin has represented many clients in agency proceedings including, but not limited to, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board, and the Pennsylvania Board of Finance and Revenue.
Mr. Gavin is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the United States District Court for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania and is a member of the Berks County, Pennsylvania, and American Bar Associations. He has recently been reappointed to serve his fourth term as a Hearing Committee Member for the Disciplinary Board of Pennsylvania.
